Art For Those Who Hate Messing Up

Last week was a doozy! On Valentine's Day, I had to coordinate this event for Loot Rentals where we gave away 16 free weddings. It was so much fun, but A LOT of work went into it. By Wednesday, it felt like a weekend was necessary so I took Thursday and Friday off and just relaxedddd. I had to pick up some fabric from JoAnn Fabric for a photo shoot next week and ended up buying all the supplies necessary to PAINT! I got really into it and it ended up being so relaxing and fun. Just what I needed.

I started by gathering inspiration. I love Katie Craig's work and Kristen Ley's work, so I pulled some photos of their work, found some color palettes I liked on Pinterest, and just started painting! The best part about abstract art is that you really can't mess up. And even if you do, you just paint over it and keep going.

I started by painting a base layer, letting it dry, adding another color detail, letting it dry, etc. But if you want a more organic look, you can start adding more colors before the other ones dry and see how they blend together. The more I paint, the more I feel like I'm developing my own style and techniques. It's so fun to see what comes off of the brush! Below you can see my first three painting: "Sherbert," "Peach Lemonade," and "Toothpaste."
