Sunday At The Blanton

This past weekend my parents came into town for an impromptu visit. I love showing them around different parts of Austin, so we decided to check out the new exhibits at the Blanton Museum of Art. We mainly went to see Ellsworth Kelly's "Austin" (aka the rainbow chapel), but ended up spending two hours walking around the museum checking out the other exhibits too! Keep reading for some of my favorite pieces.

The featured collection was an ode to Australian aboriginal art. It was right up my alley! I loved all of the colors and textures. I have a thing for BIG art and these pieces didn't disappoint. Now I want to try my hand at making my own painting inspired by these...

Three of my favorites from the Blanton's contemporary art collection.

And last but not least, Ellsworth Kelly's "Austin"! The building was so stark white and modern compared to all of the traditional university buildings surrounding it. Once we walked inside, I immediately felt so small in comparison to the high ceilings. The space is empty except for one bench and one sculpture, and three sides of the building had colored glass installations that looked so beautiful when the light was shining in. Definitely a must-see!

What's Going On In May 2018

Hello friends! April was my busiest month yet -- jam-packed with tonsss of work stuff -- so I'm excited to finally have a break in May. If you can even call it a break, so many fun things are happening this month! This weekend is Cinco de Mayo, next weekend is Bryce's birthday, the weekend after that my sister Adrian graduates from college (AHHH), and the weekend after that Bryce and I are going to TULUM.

Below I'm sharing a few things I'm loving and discovering this month. I've been devouring Domino's Spring 2018 issue. (There are soooo many features about people in Austin, TX -- it's crazy!) Every day when I take my dog Paddington on a walk, I tune in to the latest episode of "How I Built This." I especially loved the episode about Jeni's Splendid Ice Creams! I've been doing a little (read: a LOT) of shopping for our trip to Tulum, so picking something out for my shopping list was a piece of cake! And in addition to that, you'll find a couple artists and graphic designers that I can't get enough of. I hope you find something new you love as well!
